    1. COMMENT

    Baby Boomers Need Immigration

Dowell Myers, a professor of urban planning and demography at
USC and the author of a forthcoming book on "Immigrants and
Boomers," argues that the future of the baby boomers is tied to
the economic success of the younger immigrant population.

"Why should baby boomers care about the state's immigrant
population? It will become totally obvious within 20 years that
the baby boomers need the immigrant youth. Not only will
California have a shortage of workers, but the whole country
will. We also know there is a skyrocketing tax burden being
imposed by the elderly. We need to have more middle-class
taxpayers to shoulder the burden. The trouble is you can't grow
    a worker overnight. You can't produce a middle-class taxpayer
overnight, and you can't produce a home buyer overnight. You
    have to plan ahead."

    6. LETTERS

    (a) Dear Weekly Editor:
I think it's about time to give up a la Don Kichot fight against
illegal immigrants whom are already here.We should let them stay
but as legal "aliens"(how stupid it sound alien..?).Though we
should state that every one illegal immigrant who come here since
than has to be aware of consequence and realy define them.Than we
may and have right to crack on illegal immigration, people who
hire illegals etc. Law shouldn't "go backwards".

    (a) H-1C Visas for Registered Nurses

Gregory Siskind, Esq writes "One of the few immigration measures
passed in the last Congress was the extension of a little known
nurse visa category called the H-1C. In November 2006, Congress
approved legislation to extend the H-1C program for three more
years. The program remains unchanged in substance."
