  • **** I'm on h1-B - can I bring parents over for visit? ****

Hey, Thank you in advance for advice.

I am here on an H1-B. I would like to bring my perents here for a visit as I have not seen them in 7 years.

Can I do it on H1-B. If so, what would I need to do.

    I am from Kazakhstan.

    Thank you.

They can always enter on tourist visa if they just need to visit. Only limitation is the length of stay which can varies widely up to 6 months.

I heard that it is very difficult to get tourist visa in KZ. Plus, very expensive. I was hoping to leverage my H1-B somehow...

        Thank you, though.

Actually, I'd suspect that your H1-B would work against you on this, particularly if you've applied for a green card. Your family will have to prove strong ties to their home country--the assumption is that visa applicants are intending immigrants, and it's up to them to prove otherwise. If you're here, that may make it tougher to prove they don't intend to stay.

I am on H1 and my parents visited last summer.
Get a letter from your employer that you are legally employed. Send an invitation to your parents along with a copy of your I-94 and they should not have any problems getting a tourist visa. If you may want to attach a copy of your pay stufb as a prove that you can support them while they are visiting. However, it is up to them to prove that they do not have intentions to stay in US after the expiration of their tourist visa

              Hi.
Getting a tourist visa for your parents should not be very difficult. I have friends who are
H1b holders and LPRs who bring their parents, brother and sisters for a visit all the time and
they stay for up to 6 months.
