If you have not already done so, you should contact USCIS customer service and give them your receipt number. They will inquire as to what happened. It may have been that your case was returned. If you have moved after you have filed the petition, they would have sent it to the address of record but the post office lost it somehow. I would strongly suggest you do a infopass appointment to the district office that services your area.

As Sappy has pointed out, there may also be a delay due to background check. USCIS should have sent you a letter explaining the delay and how much longer. Again, it is imparative that you contact USCIS either by phone, not recommended, or in person, recommended. Good luck to you.

There's no knowing how long a background check can take. What country is your fiancé from?

While it may be frustrating to have to wait, what precludes you from going to see her during the delay?

I had a lawyer help prepare and summit a I-129F petition for my fiance that was received by the California Service Center back on 09/23/05. They are now processing cases received 12/31/05. The last inquiry I got back from them indicated that they are the process of doing a background check. The inquiry indicate that it may take up to 6 months. Me and my fiance have been seperated now for 8 months and I still have gotten anything back from USCIS. I am getting very anxious and upset with this whole delay. I am willing to do whatever it takes at whatever cost to get my fiance here. The thought of going through a whole year without seeing her is unbearable. Please, please, please, if anyone has any suggestion or idea please let me know.
