USA Citizenship in Hawaii prior 1959

This is a long shot in seeking information...but here are the facts.

I am USA citizen who married a gal from the Philipines. She has been here for over two years and now seeking permanent removal of condition for residency.

We recently found out that my wife's father was born in Hawaii prior to it becoming a State within the Union - 1959.

He grew up in Hawaii and to this day there are many relatives still there. He (my wife's father) left Hawaii to live in the Philipines and became a citizen of that country prior to 1959.

I was told that anyone who was born in Hawaii and could prove it, was given automatic citizenship upon Hawaii becoming a state.

Sadly, my wife's father's recently died.
My question to anyone of where I might get answer is:

1. Were all residents of Hawaii prior to 1959 granted citizenship? Would a lawyer know of this information?

2. Are there any benefits conferred to children due to such a situation?

3. What about after death of citizen - if one was granted citizenship?

If he was born in Hawaii prior to 1959.

His birth must have been registered at that time.
You should try to look into the old records you might find some thing of that nature.
That mght help her in getting the Citizenship.

In Foreign Affairs Manual their is a section about unawearness check that out as well.
