New Book Explains Why Mexican Illegals Bring Culture of Violence into U.S.

Author Boye Lafayette De Mente says Mexico's traditional macho culture responsible for growing violence in American cities.

Phoenix, Az (PRWEB) December 1, 2007 -- In his new book, "Why Mexicans Think & Behave the Way They Do," author Boyé Lafayette De Mente explains the origins of the culture of violence that Mexican illegals are bringing into the United States.

Known for his books on the cultures of China, Japan, Korea and Mexico, De Mente says that this violence is related to the traditional macho mindset of Mexican males which evolved from the official policy of the Spanish conquistadors -- who arrived in Mexico in 1521 -- to impregnate as many Indian women as possible in order to create a new race of Mestizos, or mixed-bloods.

"Over the next hundred years the conquistadors and their successors from Spain succeeded in their goal of producing a new breed of people," De Mente continues, "but after the first generation of Spanish conquerors passed away the racism and cultural arrogance of the newcomers from Spain resulted in them despising and discriminating against the Spanish-Indian mixtures, filling them with a deep-seated rage that men characteristically expressed in sudden outbreaks of extreme violence.

"This discrimination against mixed-bloods in Mexico continued for more than 400 years, finally beginning to subside in the mid-1900s, but it has not yet disappeared from the culture, and machismo attitudes and behavior remain a highly visible trait of young Mexican men, especially among the poor," he adds.

De Mente says that many machismo-driven Mexican men still feel compelled to strike out at anyone who disrespects them or refuses to let them have their way -- and that this compulsive feeling is magnified when they drink.

"It is vital that American law enforcement agencies and others be aware of this cultural element in the surge of violence now plaguing the U.S., and the longer the government fails to stop the flow of poor illegal aliens from Mexico, the more serious the problem of violence will become," he says.

De Mente's book, "Why Mexicans Think & Behave the Way They Do," is available from Amazon.com, other online booksellers, and leading bookstore chains.

      Black on black violence ˜disturbing'

By Matthew Taylor, GazetteNET News, Monday, 13 March 2000

Bermuda, March 12, 2000 - Black on black conflicts have reached a disturbing level of viciousness, according to a leading activist.

Dr. Eva Hodgson, speaking at a meeting on the subject at the Leopard's Club on Thursday, said conflict amongst whites didn't seem to reach the levels afflicting the black community.

She said: "You don't hear the same levels of vindictiveness when they talk about each other."

But she said sometimes inter-black relationships reached a "level of viciousness which was really quite disturbing."

She added: "Very often we treat each other worse than the way white people do who are expressing racism.

"Under a PLP government predominantly representing the black community it's a good opportunity to challenge ourselves on the way we approach each other."

The first speaker, painter and decorator Scott Smith, said Bermuda was in a lot of trouble when it came to black on black relationships.

He said change had to begin from within as each person took the time to ask themselves what they could do to improve the country.

He said: "You can't love anyone else if you don't love yourself."

The menace of drugs was singled out. He said: "I started using marijuana at an early age and it takes you to other drugs and alcohol.

"Now today you hear about nine and ten-year-olds on heroin. But a lot of people are blind to that.

He said: "If our young people are strung out on drugs who will lead us in the future?"

Amnesty International's LeYoni Junos, who told the meeting she was speaking in a personal capacity, said she witnessed black on black racism whilst chatting with co-workers in a Government canteen years ago.

She said her colleague began deriding Miss Bermuda for having natural hair.

She wondered how many black people had been turned down for jobs or had their complaints ignored by other blacks simply because they wore dreadlocks.

And she said: "We have a responsibility. It's very important for us to question ourselves.

"I am sure young people with ability were deterred from shaping our community purely because of the judgment of other black people. We have to ask ourselves why we believe these things."

Ex-policeman and cricketer Neville Darrell said black people tended to come down harder on each other than white people.

He pointed at the crime problem and said it was time for the community to play a part in helping the Police who would always be outnumbered unless they were given the right information.

He said: "It's time to turn in our brothers and cousins."

Carol Bassett of the Venturilla Foundation said her organisation tried to teach moral standards for male ***** to form them into model adults who would be less likely to leave their children unsupported.

Businessmen Khalid Wasi pointed out that conflict amongst communities could be found across the world and that it would be a tyranny to assume that people should all share the same perceptions.

He said: "The differences are not our weaknesses, they are our strengths. They can be complimentary."

In the question and answer session one-time PLP candidate Rodney Smith said he got enormous flak from the black community for his talks on buying a house with no money down despite giving away money and food at the shows.

And he said it was time for black people to take personal responsibility and not keep blaming their troubles on white people. Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Hodgson said a number of those present expressed a desire for the dialogue to continue.

"We will definitely have another meeting," she said. "Not only were the sponsors very pleased but so were a great deal of the people who attended.

"We think this dialogue was just one tiny step towards getting the young men who are being violent to think about their actions."

Dr. Hodgson said she expected the next meeting on the topic to be held some time in late April.

yawns . . . This is about illegal aliens and their criminal behavior. The crimes they commit would not have occurred if they had not entered America illegally. I already know about the crimes of LEGAL CITIZENS which is another reason that we should focus on removing you illegal alien welfare, healthcare leeches, and the rest of the freebies which is the natural way to make a leech self deport. Hell, not having jobs, welfare, healthcare or any education made you leave your 3rd world cesspools by the millions. It's obvious that the freebies are what gives you the incentive to keep the illegal breedmares coming and breeding baby leeches that you have neither the means nor intelligence to raise or support.

That being said, did you honestly think that because I am black that the truth would upset me? Do you honestly think that I am not aware of American criminals of all races. AMERICAN being the key word, you illegal twerp. I keep it real and unlike you 3rd world leeches I haven't invaded anyone elses country, nor do I have a criminal record so pointing out the fact that crime is committed by a CITIZEN that I happen to share a race with is because???? Oh wait Laraza (aka the race) is what rules in the cesspools that you come from and you can't handle the truth about "the race". You are in denial of your cowardly act of fleeing your homelands which BTW are happy as hell to be rid of you and don't want you back; do you think you are going to dump your burdens on America? The tax dollars are running out and so is our patience. Your child like co-dependent mentalities, low self esteem, sense of entitlement and your delusional belief that this is your continent is beyond pathetic.

I can't blame Vincente Fox and the oligarchy for writing maps in the hopes that you nomads all die in the desert. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Gang Violence Spreads Across US, Central American Borders
              By Zulima Palacio
              Washington
              30 November 2007

Salvadoran President Antonio Saca met Thursday with U.S. President George Bush at the White House. Among the issues they were expected to discuss were ways to cooperate in the fight against organized crime, drug smuggling and gangs. Producer Zulima Palacio has more. Mil Arcega narrates the story.

More than two decades ago, Central American street gangs began to spread in Los Angeles as small cells.

Today, Federal Bureau of Investigation records show some Latino gangs could have tens of thousands of members in the U.S. and hundreds of thousands in Central America. Brian Truchon, with the FBI, says, "They travel between the U.S. and Central America so they have become a very difficult entity to get your hands around."

Truchon says the gangs have a destabilizing effect on Central American countries. "We already know that the gangs are involved in drug trafficking -- drug trafficking for the purpose of producing income for the gang."

Truchon says the gangs's criminal activities include homicide, robbery and car theft, with many cars stolen in the U.S. ending up in Central America. The FBI estimates that perhaps half of the gang members in the U.S. are in the country illegally, but there are American-born gang members, too. "It's not an immigration issue as much as it is a gang issue, is an issue of individuals willing to commit violence."

Truchon says Latino gangs such as Mara Salvatrucha, also known as MS-13, are transnational, with members traveling often between countries. "In this time and this day in age we are talking about an MS-13, we are really talking about a membership group that includes Salvadorans, Guatemalans, Hondurans and Mexicans."

A wide range of governmental, social and private organizations are attempting to deal with crime and violence caused by gangs.

Salvadoran President Antonio Saca told VOA ahead of his meeting with President Bush that a regional approach, known Plan Merida, is being developed to help Central American youth. He said some 60 percent of El Salvador's population is under 30. "The security ministers and justice, the Central American police directors, have been meeting and have designed a document, with a regional strategy against delinquency, against organized crime and against narco-trafficking."

The Inter-American Development Bank has sponsored studies and projects in Central America for 10 years. Juana Salazar is with the Bank. She says the cost of dealing with gangs affects social and economic development. "The cost and size of the violence is such that between five and 25 percent of the gross national product goes to security control. Most of that is dedicated to the control of gangs."

Salazar says that combating gangs is not a simple law enforcement problem. "The iron fist does not work if it is not combined with preventive measures. Repression by itself does not solve neither the causes nor the risk factors. The country with most gang members is Honduras, but the most affected country, with a third of the gangs is El Salvador."

Salazar says years of violence in Central America created a culture of war, a loss of cultural values and broken families. She says gang members have no education, no jobs, no opportunities and are often very poor. But she says poverty alone is not the problem. "Huge inequalities, not poverty, is the problem, because there are countries much poorer that don't have that level of violence. But when there is inequality there is violence."

Cop killer arrested not once but twice

                12 News
                Nov. 28, 2007 10:09 PM

After Phoenix police officer Nick Erfle was killed by illegal immigrant Erik Martinez, the Scottsdale police department announced they had arrested him one time before, turns out it was twice.

That information wasn't released until Channel 12 was tipped off by a source claiming the whole story had not been told. Scottsdale police now confirm Martinez was first arrested in February of 2005 for a probation violation stemming from a stolen car charge. He spent eight hours in Scottsdale police custody and was released to the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office.

In 2006, Martinez was arrested a second time for domestic violence. This is the arrest that was released by Scottsdale cops. Somehow, the known gang member and illegal immigrant was back on the streets. In September during a jaywalking stop near 24th Street, Martinez shot the young cop and carjacked a man before police shot and killed him.

Scottsdale police spokesperson Sgt. Mark Clark released a statement saying "In 2006 and 2005 there was no practical way or vehicle for the Scottsdale Police Department to check this man's immigration status or call ICE, they wouldn't of come anyway. "

When asked why the first arrest was not released to the public, Clark initially told us it was because it did not appear on their records. Later he said the information wasn't released because no one had ever asked about it.

Mother of child killed by pickup is charged

-Illegal immigrant faces deportation to Mexico

By ALAN J. McCOMBS, The News Journal

                  Posted Wednesday, November 28, 2007

                  Maria Navarro-Luna

A woman who was struck by a pickup while trying to cross a highway with her children -- one of whom was killed in the June 9 accident -- faces child endangerment charges and possibly deportation after police learned she is an illegal immigrant from Mexico.

Maria Navarro-Luna, 31, was charged Tuesday with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Police say she was pushing a stroller carrying toddler Luzero Navarro-Luna and leading her 7-year-old daughter by the hand across U.S. 40 near its intersection with Salem Church Road, and crossed into the path of a 1993 Chevrolet 1500.

The impact left the 7-year-old in critical condition with broken legs and a broken neck, as well as injuries to her liver and kidneys. Maria Navarro-Luna also suffered multiple broken bones.

The baby died the next day.

Because a crosswalk was 230 feet from where they entered the roadway, Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Whitmarsh said, authorities decided to charge her.

Navarro-Luna told The News Journal in July that she had crossed U.S. 40 in the past without incident.

"The crosswalk was only a few meters away, but I had always crossed [where the accident happened] and been safe," she said in that interview.

Responsibility for the crash is something Navarro-Luna has been dealing with since it occurred, said Shannon Breedlove, a family friend.

"She blames herself. She tries to be strong," she said. "She's smiling and her spirit is strong but she has moments where she breaks down and thinks people are judging her."

An investigation into the June 9 incident revealed Navarro-Luna, a resident of the Bear area for the past two years, had come to the U.S. illegally after a previous failed attempt to cross the U.S. border, Whitmarsh said.

"Based on the circumstances surrounding her arrest for this case, in addition to her being here illegally and a prior attempt to enter here illegally, that information was presented to [the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service]," he said. "They are assessing the situation."

ICE does not comment on individual immigration proceedings due to privacy regulations, ICE spokesman Ernestine Fobbs said.

Breedlove said in a late morning conversation with Navarro-Luna that she was told she would be deported in the next 48 hours.

Diana Malero, another friend of Navarro-Luna, said she didn't understand why this was happening now.

"Why do they have to rush her? I don't understand the law," she said. "Its hard to accept the law would be that blind, that heartless."

When police arrested Navarro-Luna, she was allowed to contact family and friends to arrange care for her 2-year-old child who was with her, Whitmarsh said. Her 7-year-old child, who suffers short-term memory loss and is still recuperating from her injuries, was at school Tuesday.

Police notified the Mexican consulate about the move for deportation, Whitmarsh said.

Late Tuesday, relatives were taking care of the two children as Navarro-Luna waited at Baylor's Women's Correctional Center on $1,000 secured bail.

Drunk driving is suspected in crash that killed woman
                    By Kim Bell
                    ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
                    04/22/2007

Pedro Santos (left) and Nicole Elizabeth Allen

MARYLAND HEIGHTS A suspected drunken driver was charged Saturday with involuntary manslaughter after his car plowed into the back of another vehicle, killing a young woman.

The suspect, Pedro Santos, 27, was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday, about three hours after the crash, hiding in woods not far from the scene at Marine Avenue and Bennington Place.

Killed in the crash was Nicole Allen, 21. She was a back-seat passenger in an Acura that had slowed or just stopped at the intersection, waiting for a green light, about midnight Friday. A Lincoln Town Car slammed into the back of the Acura.

Allen died at the scene. The Acura's driver, Larry Lane, 24, suffered minor injuries. His front-seat passenger, Charles Miller, 28, had two cracked vertebrae. Both remained hospitalized Saturday at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur.

Police say that Santos' vehicle was disabled by the crash and that he ran from the scene. Authorities used a helicopter and search dogs to find him. Police say they think Santos had been the only person in the Lincoln.

Three hours after the crash, Santos appeared intoxicated, police said. Santos' blood was drawn, but results of his blood-alcohol level aren't yet available, said Maryland Heights police Sgt. Mark Pruett.

Prosecutors in St. Louis County charged Santos with involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree assault by driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. Bail was set at $100,000.

Santos admitted to police that he had entered the country from Mexico illegally. His local address was in the 12300 block of Bennington Place. Police say he was a restaurant cook.

Allen lived with her mother, Denise Buchholz, and stepfather, Brian Buchholz, in the 11800 block of Gold Leaf Drive, an unincorporated pocket of St. Louis County near Maryland Heights.

Allen graduated in 2004 from Parkway North High School. She worked as a server at Red Robin restaurant and was a junior at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, studying photography, graphic design and art history.

"She was a cute, petite, fun-loving friend," said her aunt Debbie Nolen of Springfield, Mo. "She was a little angel."

The fact that Santos is an illegal immigrant was not lost on Allen's family, who gathered at the home on Gold Leaf. That further enraged them.

"He had no business being on the road anyway, but he's drunk on top of it," Nolen said.

Some of her friends plan to set up a fund for memorial contributions at Citizens Bank in Florissant, said Allen's stepfather. The money may be used for a scholarship for art students.

                      Tuesday, November 27, 2007
                      Oregonian Editorial

On the morning the news broke that the governor intends to make it much harder for illegal immigrants to get an Oregon driver's license, Alejandra Trujillo dropped by the Tanasbourne DMV office.

Trujillo, a 20-year-old studying criminal justice at Portland Community College's Rock Creek campus, misplaced her purse some time back and her license with it.

The Driver and Motor Vehicle Services clerk asked for additional identification, not proof of legal residency. "Under the governor's order," said Dave House, an agency spokesman, "we will start verifying Social Security numbers for all applicants, not just commercial drivers. But the governor's order hasn't taken effect. That won't be implemented until the first half of next year."

In the waning moments of this one, Alejandra Trujillo offered the clerk her Social Security card. "The card appeared to be a complete forgery or fraudulent," House said, so the clerk asked Trujillo if she would take a seat while they ran the paperwork. Then the clerk called Hillsboro police.

Ten days later, Trujillo is in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Tacoma, Wash., awaiting a deportation hearing and "removal" to a country, Mexico, she left when she was 8.

And I'll be honest: I don't know whether to be angry or resigned that she's come to this.

Trujillo is, by all accounts, a spirited, motivated and charming young woman. A 2005 graduate of Sunset High School, she is well known at PCC, counselor Brenda Maldonado said, for her campus activism and advocacy for other students. She was working on a degree, a Darfur awareness campaign and, I'm told, citizenship for herself and her parents.

And then she lost her purse.

"This is a second home for her," Maldonado said. "The faculty and staff are really upset."

They're asking an obvious question: Is there really no room within these borders for a young woman who did her best to play by the rules since her parents broke the rules by bringing her here?

That's not the only question on the table. Oregon's lax ID requirements for obtaining a driver's license have made the state a popular sanctuary for illegal immigrants. But if there's a perpetual squad car in the DMV parking lot, increased numbers of illegal immigrants will forgo licenses, registration and insurance, hardly a positive turn.

No one disputes that Trujillo -- "Alejandra Trujillo Cruz" is the name on her bogus but essential Social Security card, "Alejandra Trujillo-Juarez" according to Immigration -- submitted a forged document to a state agency, then entered a guilty plea in Washington County to forgery, a misdemeanor.

"She has admitted to being in the country illegally," said Lorie Dankers, an ICE spokesperson in Tacoma. "She will go before an immigration judge who will decide whether she can remain here."

That judge will deport Trujillo because we are a nation of laws and walls and border guards. If there are no consequences for sneaking children into this country, whenever their illegal entry is discovered, those laws and walls don't mean anything.

I understand all that, in theory. I just morph from bad cop to good cop when an enterprising 20-year-old girl stands in front of me, asking for nothing more than the chance to grow up in a far better country than the one her parents fled.

When Maldonado went to see her in jail last week, Trujillo apologized that she hadn't had time to finish the final paper in her Chicano-Latino studies class. "I don't think reality had set in yet," Maldonado said.

I'm thinking it has now, in all its just and hopeless glory.

Teachers Brutalized in L.A. Barrio Schools by George Putnam

It is this reporter's opinion that it is time to take a look at the plight of a battle-scarred substitute teacher in the Los Angeles barrios.

Her name is Migdia Chinea, a substitute teacher who graduated from UCLA with high honors, is fluent in Spanish, and is a professional screenwriter.

To make ends meet, she began as a substitute teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

After several harrowing experiences, Ms. Chinea now says there is no teaching going on at LAUSD, only confinement – the kind one might find in a penal colony, complete with wardens and bullhorns.

And she says she's been "confined" at many different schools within central Los Angeles in an effort to prove her point.

She says she's been insulted repeatedly by students at various schools. She has been harassed, robbed, and pelted with all manner of objects. Her car has been vandalized.

Once, while attempting to teach at a barrio middle school, things got so violent that two other substitute teachers had to be called in to help her.

                        They, too, were brutalized.

Despite the outrageous treatment, the teachers were instructed not to complain. "Stay quiet. Keep your head down!" they were told.

Ms. Chinea says the schools are often surrounded by criminal street gangs. She tells of having to leave her classroom door open because she feared for her life.

Recently, while attempting to teach at a notorious middle school, she was assaulted by three large young men in front of a class of 53 students. She suffered a concussion and sciatic-nerve damage in the attack, which she says was intended to "terrorize" her.

Ms. Chinea says she's had to intervene several times for younger substitute teachers whose classes consist mainly of illegal immigrant students "” here in our country less than three months "” who harass the female teachers, often bringing them to tears.

Ms. Chinea tells of violent melees involving hundreds of students that brought in several police squad cars and helicopters flying overhead. She tells of school "lockdowns" as in a prison.

Ms. Chinea concludes that the LAUSD is completely corrupt, inept, and broken with many students having serious behavioral problems and a complete disinterest in learning.

With teachers underpaid and exhausted - many simply marking time until their retirement - they often give out undeserved passing grades to students who can barely write or do math at a third-grade level.

And where are the parents or guardians in all of this mounting chaos?

Ms. Chinea believes recidivist students should be suspended and their parents or guardians should pay a fine.

As for Migdia Chinea and other battle-scarred substitute teachers, these areas of the LAUSD school system should be declared a battle zone and teachers should be given combat pay, she adds.

The offenses put forward by Migdia Chinea have repeatedly been brought to the attention of the LAUSD Superintendent of Schools David Brewer but to no avail, she maintains.

She also believes it is time for the media to acknowledge what is going on: The schools are messy, filthy, dilapidated and without supplies. But most of all, the students are "dangerous, disrespectful, and completely out-of-control."

"As for me, I am exhausted. I feel exploited and I'm also injured, to boot. It's almost impossible for anyone in my position – in a few short days – to instill in these students any sense of decency, good manners and respect because they should be learning these civilities at home," Ms. Chinea writes in her WorldNetDaily column.

Migdia Chinea, in describing your harrowing experience and calling attention to this horrendous problem in our schools, you are doi
