There is no use in arguing with people who have their minds set on certain things, specially when they feel so strongly about things, wether they be pro-immigrants or american supremacists.

What's happening in France is crazy to say the least, riots have happened in other countries, the US included. it is being highlighted because it is politically sensational. It would die down and be yesterday's news soon after, but it does serve to fuel both hatred of Muslims and sympathy for immigrants' plights depending on which side of the fence you sit on. I wonder Michael what you'd do if you're the one subjected to these immigrant dilemmas ... quite a test of character it would be and I'm not sure you'll feel so high and mighty then ...

The riots are less about Muslims, and more about importing large numbers of people who haven't the educations or skills to move ahead. Like Muslims in Britain, you can bet most of those in France came to do unskilled labor and found themselves left behind when those jobs evaporated, or didn't materialize.

Good answer Aliba. The stark truth about Europe is that their antiquated system is fallible. I remember the great Pulitzer-Prize winner journalist Thomas Friedman said that Europe now is just a Museum. The future is in the hands of America (of course), China, and India. He added that for instance if you file bankruptcy in Germany, you're out of business forever. Nobody will ever trust you again. So you might as well leave the country. Nevertheless, in the good USA, you file bankruptcy, people chase you trying to invest their money in you because they believe you've learned a valuable lesson and will succeed next time.

This is why I love the United States so much. We don't care if people have accents or are from dissimilar descents. We judge people based on their honesty and hard work, and not their pedigrees. Everybody can make it in this great land. I remember when my friend visited Southern France, she told me somebody stole her bag on a beach. She noticed them and started chasing them instantaneously, But guess what? Because she was yelling at them in English, the cops on the street were just watching. She couldn't believe her eyes!

I am not judging anyone, but after WWII France needed workers, and they brought people from their African colonies to fill in the void without setting up a policy to integrate these waves of migrants. For instance, most of the European countries require at least a 10 years residence before granting Citizenship. No wonder America is so powerful. We make people feel at home here. God Bless this nation: The United States of America.

I agree with most everything you say, BUT you can bet that many groups of immigrants, especially Muslims, have NOT tried to integrate and actually don't want to. France may not have clean hands in the matter, but neither have the immigrants. I was reading this morning about a group of Muslims in France which has been and is now even more pushing for "separate but equal" treatment of Muslims.
