What is in stake for Leagal immigration?

Immigration is now a hot topic and is being hijacked by all illegal immigration. All media totally forgot the people who came here legally and paying the tax dollars and waiting in the endless line between the bureaucracy, DOL and USCIS for years by putting their life on hold, enriching the community and the country with their skills.

With the developing countries started booming and other countries started attracting these skilled with more lucrative offers, there is already a receding trend for such people. [These people are only 16% of the total immigration population, yet contribute more in strengthening the innovation, research and development field].

If the illegal people started suddenly jump in the queue, what will be the status of them? Does anyone care about this silent work force?

Last time when such amnesty granted for millions of people are still affecting the people in the queue and both DOL and USCIS are still buried under with that paper work, resulting in this community getting affected as well. Despite all charges and fees are being increased, the services offered by DOL, USCIS and FBI even to give a status on the applications are far below the normal standard, at present. [An enquiry will be answered in 6 months time, if you are lucky!]

Is all agencies are equipped to handle another such program to handle the paper work? Will the immigration process for legal immigrants will continue to be a nightmare?

Me too. I am waiting and waiting for dol approval....still no hope. I am here 7 1/2 years. On student visa for 2 1/2 years and on workvisa for 5 years, all this 5 1/2 years of working I paid tax and applied for DOL, then.

I hope there will be a channel for us, the rule is so tough.

It would be great if all of the kinks could be worked out and immigration would become a smoother process.

Unfortunately even american citizens don't have much control over their politicians or how these agencies conduct their business.

It is outrageous that people who come to our country legally and pay taxes, take care of themselves and their families, and respect this country are being put through the ringer the way these immigrants are.

I absolutely think it is dispicable for people to sneak through the border and try to claim right to what all of the hard working, honest, or at the very least, legal immigrants have worked so hard to earn.

I came legally here 6 years, paying taxes, got sitizenship 3 years ago. My mother already got green card, but still can't come here to live because her son (10 yo) waiting for visa!
I hope they will pass this year any bill where will be RELIEF FOR MINOR CHILDREN.

I agree retro. Those of us that came through the legal channels have drained more money than some americans spend in a lifetime. School tuition we pay alone is more than most americans would pay for their kids education, yet we have no means of becoming legal residents. What really gets me is that illegal immigrants are chanting like they are owed something after jumping the border, disobeying the law and not even looking to be part of the system.

Hopefully something is done.
