Hi I am a newbee and have recently immigrated to Canada. I would like to know am I eleigble to apply for a work permit to the US or will that jeopardise my canadian status? What are the formalities required for the same? What is the processign time?

Why would you think you could get a work permit to the US b/c of Canadian Immigration????

I have recently come from India. I have been told there are better job prospects in the US, and thus wish to relocate there. But am apprehensive as I do not know if I will get the US work permit or not.

Are landed immigrants to canada elgible for US work permit?

Hi, you need to find a sponsor for the work visa, which is not the same as work permit. Either a TN or H1B visa. But both requires an U.S. employer willing to sponsor you. The TN is good for a year and renewal for one year at a time. The H1B is good for 3 years and renewal for 3 more years. However, the cap for H1B visas for 2005 is almost reached.

Even if I find an employer willing to sponsor me, will I get the visa TN or HB1? What about my canadian landed immigrant status will that remain or am I toast? (loose it)
