Basically, your congressional rep cannot guarantee approval of a desired outcome, however, if your case is lost or overaged in its processing, they are the ones to contact to get the ball rolling. If your congressional rep sees an injustice which DHS has denied your case and you were outright entitled to it, then they can help. Any ambiguity in your outcome will be decided on a case by case basis. They are an avenue, especially if you cannot afford legal representation.

HERE IS AN EMAIL THAT I GOT FROM MY SENATOR...

As your Senator, I can help you in contacting and working with federal government agencies. The office hours allow my staff the opportunity to consult with constituents who are seeking assistance with matters involving the Veterans Administration, Social Security Administration, or any other federal agency. Anyone who is seeking casework assistance is encouraged to visit.

Providing government services to my constituents is one of my most important duties as a United States Senator. I look forward to the opportunity to learn more about issues of importance to you and your community and resolve any problems that you may have with a federal agency.

    BARBARA BOXER.

Congressman can help in many cases mainly by putting the preassure on USCIS to do its job...
