Hi,

I am a naturalized citizen and my Swedish husband and I are applying for his green card. Do I need my birth certificate from the country of my birth or will my certificate of naturalization suffice?

Also, can anyone recommend a good lawyer in NYC?

I just came back from our interview today. I am like you, a naturalizad citizen and getting a green card for my husband. I did not have to use my birth certificate, only my naturalization paper.

You do not need your birth certificate as long as you can establish your birth date on any US Govt issued ID. Alternatively, you can also have people write an affidavit attesting to your DOB. See I-130 instructions section What If a Document Is Not Available?

1. I could not find my originial birth certificate.
2. The immigration office did not ask for it.
3. Our case was approved in 5 miniutes.
