2006 is most importantly about House elections.
What they have in House is 'safe districts' and those who are elected naturally want to keep their seats.
Now, as it is apparent, sufficiently important number of those 'safe districts' may become volatile and kick out their Representatives if their House members go along with Senate version of IR.
And , for obvious reasons, Representatives who hold those seats don't want such thing to happen to them.

I have envisioned the whole process in my mind long time ago and clearly expressed my opinion about what is most likely to happen (so far it appears that my analysis was brilliant) and I held on to my opinion even when entire board argued against me.

Hm, what a truly marvelous mind I have!
I can't say how fascinated and pleased I am to be me!

why would the majority of Americans want 12M illegals to be rewarded? Air fare is much cheaper than doling out free medical care and education to these dirtbags.

Because of the connection between time and space. For the same reasons, you take a morgage for a house for 30 years and not 3.

Tuesday is the most important day. On Tuesday we'll see which views does the republican base support. If Cannon wins then the majority of the republicans stand with the guest worker program. If Jacob wins then forget about that idea. Its 2 days away so we'll see...

                  That's wrong assumption, boyan.
                  Each district is different.
Republicans in Virginia may support a candidate very different from one in border City/State.

What is certain is that almost no Republican on this coming election risks loosing decisive number of his/her voters if Congress doesn't enact Guest Worker program , but there are some "red-hot" districts where constituents will almost lynch their Representative if the latter goes along with Senate version of IR.

I would expect each Representative to run the campaign reflecting the sentiments of his/her District.

I agree. I dont think a republican can win a seat in the house if he supports the Senate bill. I do think though that a republican can win if he supports GWP. It makes sense as long as they don't mention citizenship for illegals. I was looking online at some polls and it seams that the democrats have the edge in this elections. I personally would hate to see them take over the House but I think its very possible. If this happens then the citizenship idea will stand pretty good on the table. If such a bill becomes law then forget about a republican controlled house for the next 20 years. All the Latinos will vote Democrat and since they are getting more and more it will be really hard for the Rep. to win back the house. If the republicans keep their seats then a GWP without citizenship path will have the best chance to pass both chambers. In any case illegals will get something out of this. There will be a bill if not this year definitely by the 2008 elections.

One of rational compromise solutions would be time-unrestricted (but subject to yearly DOL certification and CIS approval past 6 years) temporary work visas : without increasing the CAPs for unskilled work based GCs they would vistually be unable to get GC earlier than in 2000 years from now.

But then the opposing side will decry it as permanent indenture/slavery and thus things will only get worse : too harsh enforcement first and full amnesty some years later...

Illegal is illegal, no matter how you spell it nor rationalize it. We hear this nonsense time and again about how "they were forced to sneak across our borders.." or.."I had to lie to get the visa"...any responsible adult with an IQ over 80 knows the difference between right and wrong. Illegals are just scam artists, here to leech off American taxpayers.
All three circumstances are different with only one being clearly in the wrong. The ciccumstance which came here under the false impression of legal status will have to be looked at more closely and the child does not know the differentc between right and wrong. Anyone with an IQ above 80 would know the difference. So I guess that leaves you out.

You may want to laugh at yourself, Pegasus, since nothing is ****her from truth than saying "people present in US in violation of civil immigration law = criminals".
Above statement is nothing but a lie.
Civil immigration violation, per existing law, is not a crime.

Then , according to your logic, you must be CRIMINAL too, Someone12, unless you are retarded and never drove a car in highway traffic at least a mile in excess of speed limit.
