I couldn't agree more. I feel like our government has totally deserted us at this point. 2012 will be a huge wake-up call to the Democratic Party at the rate Obama is moving this country. Just sad.

truth: businesses will be relieved from having to provide health insurance because the responsibility will be shifted to individuals
do the employers now pay your car insurance, or flood insurance, etc?
no
so they won't have to pay health insurance either
-if the public option/single payer passes Senate
w/o single payer, there is no real reform </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
From where is the money going to come from to insure a 1/3 of the workforce who didn't have it? Will it be deducted from the employee's paycheck? Or, will the employer be hit with another tax? It doesn't matter from which end. The result is the same.
At least we have some sort of sanity running the government at this point. They need to look at the real root cause of health care expense instead of trying to force mandates on people to support this stupid public option. We are not a socialist country. We've always been a world power because we make our citizens step up to the plate. No time for being soft now. What will happen when everyone gets lazy and decides to live off the government? Answer - we will become another third world country. Do people living in American want this? Wake up!

Hmmmmmm, my question is why is it costing $1M/year to keep this guy alive? Think about the root causes of this, and you might see there are more problems than meets the eye with health care. No caps on medical malpractice, greedy lawyers, along with the high price of medical care which results from the first two things mentioned.
Will the public option address the underlying causes of high medical costs? Nope. It will just add another layer into the mix without addressing the real issues. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Doctors are the highest paid professionals in the world ($450,000 Average) ; Nurses not far behind ($100,000 Average). THIS is the root cause of high cost medical care. THIS is caused by Government artificial restrictions; not free market. Lawyers not make much money ($95,000 Average); do it for love. More Doctors more nurses = more medical care, lower salaries, lower cost and less malpractice ! Simple Economics ! Why you not understand this? All Nigerians understand this !! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Congratulations, Senator !
I heard your wife is arrested. May she spend the rest of her days in lunatic asylum. Amen to that !
Senator, how many doctors do you have in Nigeria?
What is the average cost of health care for Nigerian citizens?
What would you suggest to be the most efficient way to drive costs down while increasing the quality of care?
Your opinion on these matters is highly appreciated!
There are just as many reasons why a legal immigrant can't afford hefty medical insurance costs as there are why a USC couldn't afford them.
Lets look at a legal immigrant married to a USC who has 2 kids. She's a SAHM, not working, so she and her children are reliant on the medical insurance provided by her husband's employment. His hours have been cut and he's forced to change employment. Now, he has to sign up for the public option or face hefty fines and/or jail time. His wife isn't eligible and between the mortgage, the kids, the cost of living and the fact they were only just making ends meet before, private insurance for his wife isn't something they can afford.
What will they do when something happens to her? Yep. They'll go to the ER.
Lets not forget that legal immigrants will not be eligible for 5 years under the current plan and with the current public option in place, it could create major problems.
Not only will the undocumented continue to jam up the country's ER services, the documented will be forced to as well.

I have a question.
Is there any laws that require employers to provide health care insurance?
I ask because Ive always had insurance threw my dad's job. Its good plan that's always been there and has never failed us. Now if the public option becomes law would employers stop providing health insurance. Or is this public option kind of like welfare, requiring you be in a certain income bracket to qualify. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
The one passed by the House will mandate employers with a payroll over $500,000/annually provide health insurance. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
$500,000 seems very low. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
They are at least sparing the smaller companies, for now. However, this bill isn't set in concrete yet. There are some more steps to go before it can pass into law. Between now and then, they'll figure out how to put the s.crews to the smaller companies too.

I don't believe there are any current laws that require employers to offer health insurance. The one passed by the House will mandate employers with a payroll over $500,000/annually provide health insurance. This law will also mandate everyone to carry health insurance, whether or not you want it. If you opt not to purchase health insurance, you will pay a fine (and so will the employers who are supposed to offer health insurance and don't). The fines are supposed to fund the public option after a period of time.

The party of NO said...well no again...(all but one). The party in power said YES!!
House pases health care reform bill
The House of Representatives on Saturday night passed a sweeping health care bill by a vote of 220-215.
Earlier, the House passed an amendment to pending health care legislation that prohibits federal funds for abortion services in the public option and in the insurance "exchange" the bill would create.
The vote passed 240-194.
A second amendment considered by the House, introduced by Minority Leader John Boehner, which would have substituted several sections of the health care bill dealing with insurance, did not pass. Legislators voted against the amendment 258-176.
