here is a letter I have written to numerous newspaper editors and have not yet heard back from any of them. I amm looking for a way to get my husband here "faster". My father is very ill and I am very stressed, we have 3 children together and they need their daddy and I need my husband. Open to any suggestions please. thank you-
I'm writing this letter because I want the public to know just how hard I've been trying to bring my husband to the states legally. I'm sure there will be many who can relate, and may even be able to help me and others in finding a faster way. I have gotten help from Senator Evan Bayh; he has helped me in making sure all the proper paper work gets to where it needs to go. Senator Bayh has also tried to have my husband's case expedited but they denied us of this because it is unfair to others who have been waiting ahead of us. I have written a letter to President Bush and I have also started a petition which numerous people have signed to bring my husband home. I have also gotten a letter my father's doctor because he is ill and my doctor because I am very stressed and raising three kids on my own. My name is Heather Tapia and I am married to a Mexican. I have been married to my husband coming this March 4 years. Sergio and I have three children together. My husband came with his visitor's visa back in 2003. He came to the US to visit me after we met and fell in love in Cancun. While he was here he proposed to me and we decided we could not live without each other. I soon found out I was pregnant and we decided it would be best to fix his papers for him to live here and we would start our family together. We got married in a court March of 2003 and began the papers to make him a legal resident of the United States of America. He was approved his work visa and worked a year,we had our own home, and our first child was born within this time, October 17, 2003. After a year of working we received the interview date for his permanent residency. We gathered our paper work together and got ready for the interview, by this time his work authorization was expired. We went to the interview after making several trips to see the doctor for his physical and he received all the necessary vaccines needed. During the interview we were told we did not have all the required documents. We were missing a w2 tax paper from the year 2000. So we were advised to go to the IRS office in Indianapolis and ask them for a copy of my 2000 w2's. We did this but they refused to give us the information the same day and advised us we would receive the papers in the mail in 7-10 business days. We then returned to the Immigration office and advised them of the situation and they asked us to please mail the w-2's when we received them in the mail. Several days had passed and we received no w-2. I called the IRS and asked them of the papers and I was informed the papers were never sent off and that they would be sending them that same day and it would only take 3-5 business days for the mix-up. In this waiting time we received a letter of denial for my husband's permanent residency. We then went to immigration and asked about our situation and we were told we would receive a court date in 3 months. Three months passed and nothing, we received a letter to go to immigration for fingerprints. When we asked what the fingerprints were for we were advised they were for his permanent residency. We then asked if he could reapply for his work authorization and we were told yes. So when we got home we reapplied on the internet and we were denied shortly after because his permanent residency was denied. Over a year had passed now and we still heard nothing. My husband couldn't work, we relied on my family for support and I was on welfare. Things got difficult for us. We then decided to return to Mexico so my husband could work and take care of his family.
I have shortened this quite a bit, but you get the point...not I have returned to the USA to work on his papers, I have been back since April 2006. And we are still waiting for an interview appointment.
Thank you for your time, again I am open to suggestions. God Bless
