"how much is the minimum balance that should be shown in bank statements"
in case a Student needs to bring somebody as his/her dependent there to us.

I think it's arounf $2000, not a whole lot.

Generally the I20 request format says a minimum of $3000 should be shown for each dependent the student is going to bring.

My doubt was to know if once the student can put $3000 into the bank, get a bank statement and then withdraw the money back or the average balance for some period should be $3000?

Kindly let me know more on this....
