  • Drivers License without SS #

    Hi!

Does anybody know in wich states you can get a drivers License without having to show proof of a Social Security #.

I live in Nevada and they require but always had a Florida Drivers License which has expired now. And they changed the laws to where they require a SS # now.

    Any help would be appreciated.

They must have changed the laws because my husband doesn't have a social and he got a Nevada driver's license a few years back. I know you can get one in Oregon if you sign an affidavit stating that you don't have one but will provide them with it as soon as you get one. You have to prove that you are a resident of Oregon. The cost of living is still good there and there is no sales tax, not to mention the fact that you don't even have to pump your own gas........We are considering re-locating there ourselves.
      Have a nice day

VegasGuy: I too am in Nevada, Las Vegas to be precise. I first obtained a state ID, signing an affadavit stating that I do not have a SS#. Keeping the ID for a couple of months, and after doing some investigating, found out that with the ID you can then obtain a drivers licence, circumventing the need for the SS. Might want to give it a shot.

          Thanks for the replies.

JSB are you here illegaly also.
When you got your state ID , did you have too provide any proof that you are legally in the united states. Where did you get your state ID.
And then when you went too DMV did you have too provide any proof there that you are legal.

Ummmmmmmm, yeah, i guess i am here illegally (looking over shoulder) The only ID i had was my Canadian D/L, and my large and small b/c, I got it at the dmv, my first ID was just a seasonal resident one, just recently "upgraded" to a "normal" ID,,,,,,,,, But keep in mind that i got the seasonal one in 2002,,,,, things may have changed

Hi I wondered if you could explain what you meant by seasonal ID? can any visitor get such a thing and did you have to prove you were here legally when you applied? I am british and out of status so do not what to do anything that would put me at risk. I would appreciate any info you could give me. THANKS
