hello I am a PR in california. I have been a PR for many years never really thought about getting my citizenship until now. Unfortunately, I got a DUI in 2005 sept which I am not happy about I have no other criminal record of any kind but I have been reading that I can not get my citizenship if I am still on probation which I am. its a 3 year probation which I have served more than half by now. my issue is should I get my probation exponged or removed from my record before I apply for citizenship. I have heard of people getting their probation shortened by going to the judge not sure thats true but should I get all this probelm cleared up before I apply or does getting a DUI and being on probation a major isse in getting my citizenship?

Expungement, seal, early termination, or whatever you want to call it does not apply to immigration purposes, that all ends in criminal court. But you can seek a pardon from your state governor if it was a state offense. If you can get that, good.
Good luck.
