Hello, I am writing to let you all know that I finally got my interview for adjustment of status through the sponsorship of my us citizen mom!! finally its been a long ride, hard work and lots of prayers...came here when i was 9 (am 28 now) under the e-2 visa. when i turned 21 in 2001 (around the same time, my mom got her greencard), I became an f-1 student throughout bachelors and masters studies (man, was tuition expensive and i am still paying for it b/c my parents took out loans from bank)....presently am on h1b visa....

my mom became a greencard holder in 2001 and sponsored my sis and I in jan 2002 (at that time, both of us were over 21 and 22 and not married). she became a us citizen in 2006. category went from 2b to 1 in family preference...my priority date became current in january 2008, i turned in the application in early february, got my fingerprinting, advanced parole and work permit within 3 months, and now got my interview date for september 2008!

i am excited, i nearly gave my mom a heart attack when i called her excited (since i got home first and got the mail). now for the interview.

i was wondering if you could give me a short synopsis of how they will conduct the interview, it'll be very well appreciated!

    Thank you!

        Congrats!!!

So we're kinda in the same boat. I already had my interview last year june. It's been over a year since my interview and I'm still waiting. Anyway, when I got there, she asked my name, address, if I have ever done anything against the law. She kept flipping thru all the paperwork. She asked why I hadn't applied earlier. I told her that I didn't know that I could. I was under the impression that I was going to be notified. That's when she told me that I could have been a US citizen by now. She took a copy of my mom's green card. Then she told me that my name was still being processed by the FBI and that I needed to wait. Over a year now and I'm still waiting.

Herbit, I thought u said that your file was misplaced and the interviewer didnt tell you that your name check has cleared? When did u find out that your name check is now the problem and when exactly were your misplaced files found? Did u have to do anything in particular for the files to be found? I felt sorry hearing about your case Herbit. You were so anxious back in June to get your green card and I was as anxious for you as well. You're in my prayers. This torturous process that some people encounter is really unnecessary. Everyone should face the same time period- not a situation where some people get theirs in 3 months and others 3 years later.

Sounds like someone at INS, CIS and DOS were asleep at the switch. You just admitted that you had intending immigrant written all over you during your F-1 status. Lucky you did not get denied.
