  • USC Abroad - Homeward Bound?

I am a usc who has lived outside of the country for over 20 years. Circumstances back in US (elderly parent etc) seem to indicate a permanent move back sooner rather than later. As it is not really clear at this moment what would happen, though my personal feeling is that I want to return home at some point, we have the problem of my husband's visa to sort out.

I am currently employed in the UK, and could most likely get a leave of absence to go to US. I don't really want to start the visa process in the UK paartly because of the sponsoring aspect, as I feel I would have to be working in the US to do this, and especially given the uncertain nature of the whole thing.

If I go back to US and get work, I will be in a position to do the sponsorship thing (although my husband has his own income vis early retirement which would probably meet the requirement.) My question is, could he enter the US on a tourist visa and then apply for a change in status after we figure out what we are doing?

    Thanks in advance.
