Do F-1 visa students have to file tax return?

I got conflicting advices on this. I'm a f1 students, have not work at all, do i have to file tax.

I live in nyc...if i have to file tax, do i put 0 every where?

Any US source of income need to be reported (unless its under $10/100, can't remember).

again, do not work, so income is zero,...source of finance is from saving account...do i have to report interests on the saving too? a lousy 20 dollar a year?

would they question my source of tuition payment because i have 0 income/

No

You are not required to file 0 tax return. Irs does not like this. Probably trigger a nice little caustic form letter telling you not to do this.

If at some point you work and meet eligible filing requirements, then do so.

i remember my foreign student advisor at school saying a while ago that starting couple year ago, INS require students to file tax return even if they don't work
