  • need advise on travelling with 'green card lost, then found'

Anyone with advise or thoughts on my situation please feel free to comment.
i became a permanent resident in may 05' i received my welcome letter in june but not the actual card. After waiting for three months, i made an appointment through info pass, and went into speak with one of the officers, she stamped my passport (for work purposes) the stamp would expire in on year and i,and told me to reapply for the card, Which i should of had before the year was up. i reapplied in 08'05 and later that year i found my green card, while going through some old mail that was never opened!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now i want to travel home (still did not recieve that card that i applied for in 05), but iam scared that when i show my card at the airport they will consider the card 'lost or stolen' those were the words the officer used.
I called the 800 # but was told there should be no problem, since the card was issued for ten years.
However iam concerned that i would need some documntation to prove that, i don't know what to do, i resorted to making an appointment on may 14th tho speak to an officer about the situation and if possible cancel i the application and reactive my card? has anyone ever been through this or heard of it.

My application for replacement is still pending.

You should go to the same office where you had applied for the New Green Card, and explain to them that you had not opened the original letter which has your card. They will cancel the second request and write in you file that you did received the card. OR at the same time you can also write a letter to uscis office and explain your position.
    Mail under returned receipt.
Hope this will take care of your position and you will be able to travel or you should apply for permit to Re-Enter the United States to be on safe side. permit is valid for two years from the date of issuance, You must returned to US within six months to keep up with your residency requirements.

You can also travel with your stamped passport, if date on the stamp is not expired. I did, entered US without any hint of question.

It's not a problem, make an appointment through info pass, and talk to the officer, and explain your position as to what happened. He/she will canceled the request for the card and re-Enter the same into your file. and you will be ok.
