    Go to the USCIS website and the Department of State Website.

    It can take years and years and years. First of all, you have to get a green card - and depending on your application status that can take years before your Visa is issued.

    It is different if you apply as a Permanent Resident or if you apply as a Citizen.

    If your parent is a citizen and you are under 18, you can get citizenship right away.

    It is all long and cumbersome and expensive.

    The general requirements for administrative naturalization include:

    a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;
    residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing;
    an ability to read, write, and speak English;
    a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government;
    good moral character;
    attachment to the principles of the U.S. Constitution; and,
    favorable disposition toward the United States.
