  • Does Your Wife (Husband) Live Outside the US? You Could Get a $2500 Tax Refund

Our firm specializes in tax matters. We have found that many couples in these circumstances pay too much U.S. income tax because they do not file their tax returns "jointly." For instance, a husband earning $20,000 per year, for 2001, 2002, and 2003, who filed his return as "single" instead of "married" could obtain a tax refund of $2,500. (Higher incomes result in higher refunds). The refund is possible because U.S. tax law permits individuals to correct up to three past tax returns.

We specialize in this service and we do not charge for our work unless we are able to obtain a refund for you. We are based in Chicago, Illinois. Please contact us for consultation: Agio Partners, 312-587-8878 or agiopartners@sbcglobal.net

"Our firm specializes in tax matters."

You certainly don't specialize in IMMIGRATION matters, or you'd know that most married couples here file "married joint."

That sounds very interesting I am in the same situation too. But it is past 15 April, is it possible to claim the refund now?

          Hi,

I think we should be able to go back as follows

          Jan-Dec y/e 03
          Jan -Dec y/e 02
          Jan-Dec y/e/ 01

Not the UK tax years which end 6 th April each year

Yes, it is possible to claim the refund now. Taxpayers have three years to "amend" or correct past tax returns. On April 15 of this year, your 2000 tax return "closed." However, the returns for 2001, 2002, and 2003 can still be amended.

You do not need to pay anyone to amend your returns for you. Get the forms and file them. Another firm attempting to make money off of ill informed foreigners. Who didnt know you cant file back for 3 years? Certainly every American knows. Quit scamming foreigners Agio Partners.

They should be reported to ILW for advertising on this website.

                  Julie,

Many U.S. citizens use tax return preparers to assist them in navigating the maze of tax laws. For instance, most of H&R Block's and Liberty's customers are in fact U.S. citizens. The implication you make that national firms like H&R Block, and local ones like Agio Partner, are "scamming" their customers because they help individuals prepare their tax returns is unfounded. What is sometimes surprising is that many tax professionals and CPAs are not aware of the rules we describe below. You, and Agio Partners, are among the few that apparently have unraveled the complexities of the tax law in favor of non-resident spouses. What seems simple and intuitive to us, however, is not common knowledge.

What many people do not realize is that when their spouse resides abroad they can still file a tax return with him or her. To take advantage of this law, the resident spouse may be here legally or illegally, as long as he or she files a tax return. (The legal/illegal immigration status of the resident spouse does not matter). Furthermore, even if they have not done so in the past, the couple can file under "married" status for old tax years right now. The decision to do so or not must be considered carefully because it has certain tax consequences. But, we help people with this choice and compute the refund that they could obtain depending on what they decide. Again, in our experience a person making $20,000 per year for three years, who has filed as "single," has an average refund of $2,500, if they amend their returns with us to "married" status. If the income was $50,000, the refund could be as high as $6,000.

Importantly, we never take a fee for our services if there is no refund. All consultations, and correspondence are absolutely free.

Julie, we also offer a referral fee if someone who you know in this predicament becomes a client.

                  Regards,
                  Agio Partners

What I find disgusting is that you use someone else's bandwidth to 'pimp' out your service on an immigration board. What are you thinking? Yes H&R Block is reputable, but I have never seen them pimp themselves out on ILW, wonder why that is? Do you have a website? Ever hear of entering your information into search engines thru Microsoft B Central? You're a big cheese, stop it

                      Julie,

Your point is similar to the one concerning "advertising" above. We considered carefully whether to raise awareness here for tax refunds for non-resident husbands and wives.

We trust that we have abided by the terms of use of this forum which stipulate that users observe common courtesy, and refrain from using foul language. Otherwise, such terms are quite liberal and, to our knowledge, contain no prohibition on commercial speech.

Why an "immigration" board? Quite simply, our specialization is very narrow and we have expertise in assisting the people who visit this forum. Through our efforts, our clients save thousands of dollars.

                      Regards,

H&R block can do anything you can do and they charge per form they complete not a % of the refund. I have reported you to the webmaster. Let's see how long your pimping continues. Pay for your own bandwidth cheapskate

I am sure your intent is not to prey on uninformed alien. You are simply trying to let aliens know about what is available to them. Is that correct? I am sure you have become a member of this forum to help consult on tax problems that often occur during immigration process. That is very kind of you. It would be good if you would make a thread called" Income tax Questions.. sponsered by Aggio Partners" I am sure you are here to help us aliens, and you did not just jump in the forum to exploit. Isnt that correct? You could become our tax expert here on the forum. Answereing questions when you got a chance and overseeing others responces to correct or make sure the members of the forum were getting accurate information about tax. You see... making a thread like that would show that you were earnest in your motive by contributing to this forum and not just being self serving. Your thread could serve as a consulting type thread. What better advertisement for your firm. Now that would be creative marketing I bet you would pick up many new customers in the Chicago Area. and you know each alien would tell 2 friends and so on...and so on...

I am sure nobody here would fault you 4that.

Now I know that the other members here as well as myself are looking forward to this new thread. Again Thanks so much for contributing to this forum with this well needed topic.

Btw... How will you handle the "Single" status being amended to married without implicating alien that fraudulentlyfiled the return as single? just curious.
