  • where do i find some help?

is it so hard to get the green card or the work permit when you have no help and don't know what to do... i want to do things the right way but where am i going to find a sponsor or a job offer to start the paperwork? any idea? i'm currently in the US with a 90 day turist visa and by no means i want to stay here illegal so what should i do?

      Do what everyone else does.

      Overstay, then marry a USC.

still married but not happily. she doesn't know how to get rid of him. i don't want to end up in that situation. i love my boyfriend and i wouldn't want to ruin the relationship with this kind of pressure...

Go back to your home country.
Its not that simple to overstay.
If your friend is telling you that there will be an amnesty then know that any amnesty isnt going to happen for anyone who has been here less than 5 yrs. Go home. Dont go through what others have gone through for the sake of staying and look at your unhappy friend.

There are more legal ways of doing things but unfortunately/fortunately for you that usually involves marriage of some kind. If you want to stay in the US based on employment it will take way more than 90 dyas. Trust me, I should know becuase I am here based on employment.

It will not help if you overstay. Before 9/11 they use to give 6 mos. stays for tourist visas but now the standard is 3 mos and even back then 6 mos may not be enough time.

I maybe be able to help you find some work but that would really depend on your credentials and experience. My work is Health Service related and usually it easier to get work that way but mostly only for nurses. Even then the H1-b visa cap has already been reached and employers cannot file until next year. So if I were you I'd go back home because overstaying now will only make things worse for you.

Also, if you're cute, I know a few lonely old geezers here. There doesn't seem to be a shortage of them here where I stay. Or you could marry me and I'd file you under H4 then yuo could stay here legally for up to 2 years or more.

first of all, thanks for the replies. i know overstaying won't help my situation, but i don't want to leave. it may sound childish but as stupid as it could be i want to stay here just for love... no other reason right now. i left my family and my everything for this person (that means i'm not marrying you Defiler606, but thanks for the offer haha). i'm an english teacher for spanish speaking kids and i was told there was a shortage of them in this area i'm living. i can't help being really negative right now when all i see are difficulties. i know it's hard, more so in the world we're living, but i just wanted to be happy.

****, don't i sound like a stupid hahahaha excuses, please.... now back to reality... i was told i could have possibilities staying here because of my profession, but noone told me how to find a sponsor in the education system, or even if they do that kind of thing.

                        Dreilie,
Remeber that you still can get an extension so you can stay for 3 or 6 months more, if you're qualified you can find a sponsor in your filed, you just need to try and move fast. Don't wast time and good luck.

                        Jo,
Is that from the imagination of an insecured immigrant's spouse or what?! I use all those points if you want to get rid of a monster. If I'm the spouse I could handle all of them except one.

Have you tried contacting the Board of Education in one of the areas needing teachers and scheduling an appointment with them?

Injoy: really? how can i do that? from what i know a turist visa can't be longer than 3 months and that's what i have (i'm on my second month). my first worry is running out of time so if i can get an extension for my tursit visa it would be awesome! do you have any idea of how? i've been trying to find that information but no luck so far. thanks for your reply

Still Learning: i'm trying but the thing is i don't know where to go. my friend here told me she was going to put me in contact with this person that works for the board of education of the place i'm living. but you know how these things work (she hasn't talked to this person yet and i'm still waiting) and i feel bad asking her over and over. but i will have to leave my pride aside and start moving real fast. thanks for your reply

Josie Jo: thanks for the laughs hehe

                              Dreilie,
I files the application in 2001 and received an extension for 6 months, here is the link and you might need to double check if this is the right one before you file:
