A few days ago we received notice that Political Asylum Appeal was denied. The I-130 is a year and a half pending. We received notice from my husbands lawyer that we need to file I-485 (motion to re-open). I am a US citizen. Can someone please tell me if the I-485 will help our case? Does adjustment of status usually take a long time? Please also note that the letter my husbands laywer sent, said that the Board of Appeals denied asylum appeal, but that they also denied marriage document, because I-485 was not present. Our lawyer had sent documents of bonafide marriage, but that I-485 was missing. Will the I-485 help us?
