My perminant residnt card expired, can I still apply for jobs?

My perminant resident card expired a few months ago I was wondering if i was still eligible to work in the US I have a social security number. I also filed n-600 to claim citizenship through my dad my sister did it an she is now a citizen it was a fast proccess for her, the problem isi was dumb enough to let my green card expire. at first I was worried that id have to renew my green card and then file n-600. but I was told It was fine to just file n-600 the problem is i sent the form in and then moved i did the online change of adress but i dont know if i did it fast enough i got a letter in the mail confirming the change of adress but it said they didnt have have any evidence that i filed a petition with them. i dont know if this means that they didnt get my n-600 form at that time or if they sent it to my old adress im going to my local USCIS office soon to figure that out. anyways 2 questions can i still apply for jobs and what should i do about my n-600 form any help would be appreciated thank you.

You are a PR until an Immigration Judge says you are not so yes, you can apply for jobs because even though the card expires, the status doesn't unless you had a 2 year conditional card and have not yet filed an I-751.

However, proving to an employer of your status will be hard without a valid PR card. They might have sent letters to your old address. Check with your local USCIS office to see where they went.

Bobby, don't listen to Brit. He knows not what he speaks of. You are not under an IJ's jurisdiction unless you are in deportation proceedings. Until you get a notice to appear, you fall under USCIS. That's who you need to speak to if anyone. Contact your local office.

If you had temporary residency and you let it expire, you may have some serious troubles and should seek an attorney asap. If you had the so-called '10 year' card, then you have nothing to worry about. Apply for citizenship at the earliest possible time..

By "temporary residency" he means the 2 year conditional card and I stand by my original assertion that you remain a PR until (and unless) an IJ says otherwise. Generally the USCIS cannot remove you from the country without an IJ's say so.

Thank you both for the info I was hesitant to even apply for jobs but now I'm glad to find out that I can my permanent resident card 10 year card. And I will he going to my local uscis office and figure out what's happening with my n-600 form. Again thank you.

I have a question for you Brit4064: So can one work when their conditional green card has been terminated because of 751 waiver denial and they are in removal process? Thank you.
