  • Returning home after overstay

Hi everyone, I came to the U.S last year to give emotional support to my girlfriend who was going through a very hard time, I ended up overstaying my time (I entered on the Visa waiver program). I'm going back to the UK in june, and was just wondering if there will be any delays/ questioning/detention at the airport? I have no intention of returning to the U.S anytime soon if at all, and I'm already aware I'd be refusd entry if I tried. Thanks in advance for any help.

Noone is going to bust your b a l l s at the airport - you can leave freely.

      Any other questions?

They will stamp your passport, ban you for 3 or 10 years depending on the period of overstay, and that's about it.

They won't detain you leaving. You will have to show whatever documents you need to enter your own country. You can just leave.

Probably looking at 10 year ban. However it is not certian if the ban is automatically imposed upon leaving or imposed upon your attempt to return to the U.S in x number of years time. You should talk to a lawyer about that.

You also have virtually zero chance of a getting a green card now because of this. If plan to continue your relationship with your girlfriend she will have to come to England. Unless you just stay in America illegially. That would be your choice of course
