Applying for Citizenship

A friend of mine asked me to find this info for him.He got married to a us citizen in jan 1998 got interviewed in june2000 and got his approval notice in march 2001. At the time of the interview in june 2000 his wife was pregnant but he later found out in february 2000 it was not his child so they got in arguement and it ended in divorce in august 2001 5 months after he got his greencard.It was a no contest divorce and so it took about 2 months for them to be done with it. Now he has to apply for citizenship and is wondering if INS will ask him about the kid and also why he got divorced after 5 months of getting approval, also he got his 10yrs greencard upon approval . If no longer married to the US citizen through whom permanent residency was secured, he is eligible to submit form N400, 4 years and 9 months from receiving permanent residency (in this case his 10 year card) if he satisfies all other eligbility requirements.

Thanks to both of you for responding. But the question still remain the same, would they ask him about the child or doess the inspector who interviewed them wrote in the file about the wife being pregnant at the time of interview? Any views are welcomed.

On his N400 app he will chose the option that he has been a permanent resident for 5 years and on those basis he will apply for Citizenship. Officer won't ask for marriage or child.
