  • Where are the massive minute-men rally protesting against illegal???

Across the street from the rally, about half a dozen people held signs that read, "Illegals Go Home."

But the small counterprotest failed to douse the spirits of the demonstrators, many of whom seemed almost giddy with their newfound sense of political power.

"Today we march," they chanted. "Tomorrow we vote

Jean--WE've said it before, we'll say it again. We don't have to demonstrate. We just vote. And call or write OUR elected representatives. What do you think did in the bill last week?!

you M O R O N..did you take a look at the new abc polls that suggested that americans are supporting the democrats on the immigration issue?? you are dumber then i thought...every polls show that americans now supports democrats because of the president low ratings and they are suggesting that democrats will pick up one of the house in november.

The american public needs to understand that giving the power to democrats means, broader amnesty, just ask ted kennedy and harry reid about this

The American public does understand this, you M O R O N. That's why the Democratic party is at risk of losing its base (of which I and my family are a part), which does not support amnesty. Amnesty and guest worker programs harm the very workers who are at the heart of the party. And that's why Kennedy, and the like, will play to the Hispanic or "immigrant" vote, to pick up whatever good will they can there, but will not deliver. To deliver would be to alienate the base. Instead, they're playing up the evil Republicans and "felonization", but you can bet, something will happen, as it did last week, to derail the vote and place the blame elsewhere.

Take a look at the poll results. Nothing about "amnesty". The description of what Americans favor sounds pretty much like the compromise bill which would have let categories of illegal aliens earn legal status. Of course, poll results are sensitive to wording, and might be very different--and much more negative--if the poll had used the term "amnesty". Also, the poll results show that Americans believe not enough is being done to secure our borders, which does not square with legalization without enforcement.

Note well, you M O R O N, that the popularity polls are based on issues that include immigration but are not limited to it. Democrats have been gaining ground against Republicans on issues other than immigration for some time, notably the handling of the war.
Supporting amnesty and guest worker programs to the point of actually passing them before the election however could very well backfire on them.

The Minutemen are responsible, patriotic Americans who correctly chose to show for work instead of running off to wave flags and whine about how 'unfair' our laws are....
no doubt you spend the day chain-smoking in your trailer park dwelling, watching Opra or Judge Judy (both programs are an intellectual challenge for you)

aliba, you and your family are dirty scum baggs like someone12 mother.

Aliba, democrat will definatly pick up seats, and the republicans riks of losing their base is bigger then the democrats because republican slogan is ran on national security, and if the immigration issue is not agreed upon by november, then they will pay greatly to the point where they could lose the house...The american public doesnt necessarily likes the view of the democrats of the war,the economy or propbably not immigration, but you need to understand that whenever a party has been in power throught bad times, public opinions tends to side with the party that is not in power, which is the democrats SO this is why the democrats are expected to pick up huge amount of seats because of the war, taxes and immigration.

Like ive said, its not like the american people think the democrats would do better, its just that they are fed up with the republicans, and wants someone else to get a chance to pick up the pieces on the floor...

ALSO, YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE BADLY DIVIDED ON THIS IMMIGRATION ISSUE TO THE POINT WHERE YOU NOW HAVE FRIST, WHO SUPPORTED ENFORCEMENT-ONLY, NOW SUPPORTING GUEST WORKER PROGRAM..HOW LAUGHABLE IS THA??!! LOLOL..FRIST SAYING HE'S FOR GUEST WORKER ONLY IS COMPARABLE WITH KENNEDY WAKING UP ONE DAY AND DECIDED THAT HE NO LONGER FOR GUEST WORKER PROGRAM AND IS NOW FOR ENFORCEMENT-ONLY.

REMEMBER THAT THE REPUBLICAN'S CONSERVATIVE BASE IS AT AN ALL-TIME RISK AND BADLY HURT BY THE DIVISIONS ON THE IMMIGRATION ISSUE...YOU HAVE HARD CORE CONSERVATIVE LIKE BUSH, BROWNBACK,GRAHAM,SPECTER SOUNDING LIKE DEMOCRATS SO YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE CONSERVATIVE BASE WILL NOT SURVIVE..THIS IS WHY THE DEMOCRATS WILL TAKE OVER THE SENATE AND HOUSE THEN WE WILL HAVE FULL FORCE AMNESTY FOR ALL MY BROTHERS TO ENJOY AFER HE ELECTION HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

june 15th 2006 will be known as amnesty 2006.

The more names you call me and mine, the more sure I am that you don't have any basis for what you're saying other than your own fevered dreams.

Democrats are divided on immigration, too, you fool, but had the good sense to unite in order to put the Republicans up against the wall. Push come to shove, Reid opted out. Next time, it will be someone or something else.

Democrats do not have the power to get amnesty through the Senate, much less through the House, without the assistance of Republicans. Even were they to win both houses in Congress, they'd still need Republicans, just as Republicans need them now, even with a Republican President. After this election, the Democrats will be positioning themselves for the Presidency, and you can bet they'll try pandering to Hispanics in the Hispanic media, the way Bush does now. However, the next President, whatever party he or she is from, will have nasty and more immediate problems than amnesty, such as this war and maybe one in Iran, and massive budget deficits which will mean that Democrats won't have the ability to use their favorite tool to win minority voters--increases in social programs.

Actually, Jean, you're the penny ante pissant who knows nothing about the US for all your no doubt lying claim to be an American. If you are, by some poor chance, you were probably an illegal who married some poor fat foolish American to get legal. I, on the other hand, have 5 graduate degrees, including an MBA and a doctorate, and earn more than enough to afford my little hobbies, such as contributing generously to stop amnesty.

If YOU WERE AN AMERICAN, you'd know that a bill needs a 2/3 majority to override a possible Presidential veto. Is BUSH going to sign a bill pushed by Democrats and GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR DOING WHAT HIS OWN PARTY WON'T?! He can always stick to what he said, that he wouldn't support amnesty. And, he can use the excuse of border security to cover. Furthermore, Democrats would have to get any bill through not only the Senate, but through the HOUSE, and House Republicans including Mr. Boehner seem to be digging in their heels. Again, a veto-proof 2/3 majority is needed. Bush is the great uncommitted on immigration "reform" these days and you can bet he's waiting to see which way the wind is blowing.

Speaking of politics, I believe that the Republicans are a lot more desperate for votes than the democrats are. The republicans are trying to get as many votes as possible but I don't think is going to work this time. The American economy is in crisis, we are spending billions of dollars in the war, unemployment is at its highest rate. Nothing is working in favor of republicans and they know it.

WOW Aliba you really want us to applaud you for your wealth and your intelligence?
It doesn't matter how many degrees you have, those don't make you smart. That just means that your immigrant grandparents got in this country before me and other immigrants. If we would have switched places, I am sure you would be supporting the amnesty right now, and working in our fields.
Some of us started their life from nothing and build it up. That's who I applaud. You think you know, but you have no idea how hard it is to go to a foreign country with no money and without knowing the language, start a new life and deal with close minded people like you. That's something you would never be able to do, and if life ever forced you to deal with that than you would understand our prospective.

Wow, hold on a second, jean just said that the economy is booming, unemployment is low, the businesses need all the helps they can get, etc, hence the necessity for all of these low-wage illegals.
Now ornela said unemployment is at its highest level, american economy is in a crisis and the country is bleeding money......

On top of that, you want the taxpayers to continue subsidizing illegals and business too?

Who's right and who's wrong here? I guess the division exist in the other side as well.
