  • After 5 Years Wait Finally an Interview.

My question is in regard of application that has taken way to long to complete. I was approved for EB-1 under outstanding professor and researcher working as such (researcher) for a hospital. I-140 was filed and approved in 2001 and I-485 was submitted shortly after (late 2001). The application then was transferred from Nebraska to Chicago office in 2002. For near 4 years I didn't receive any information regarding the status of my application regardless of the numerous inquires I made to INS, Senator etc. In early 2005 I had to quit my sponsoring employer and became self employed. Last month I received an appointment for an interview in Chicago district office scheduled for April. Since my self employment was not related to any research last month I began working part-time for a company different from my sponsoring employer but still related to medical research. What possible complication might I encounter at the date of my interview? How could I prepare myself in order for the interview to go smooth and be granted LPR? If granted LPR when can I apply for citizenship – 5 years from the date of the interview or from the date I filed I-485?
