  • H-1B visa availability before FY08?

I'm a German national and have been looking for job opportunities including some based in the US. At the end of May I had an offer and, as far as I can tell, things went quite well with two other companies.

However, since I'd need an H-1B visa I couldn't start before FY08. That being said, I'm a bit confused about what's going to happen as I got three different explanations from the companies.

One suggested that legislation might make more H-1B visa available for an effective start date before FY08. Do you think it is likely to happen? If so, would it take effect immediately and visa being granted on first-come-first-serve-basis?

I do understand that there are probably no guarantees, but then I have absolutely no experience with these things. So any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

If you have a US Masters degree there were still some left.

Unlikely to be any more allocated in current climate, but who knows. Logic would suggest that those who missed out would get first shot.
