When can one expect the Notice of Receipt for a petition to be sent out by the INS

My prospective employer's lawyer sent out our H1b petition middle of February of this year. My question is, how long does the INS/BCIS take to send out a notice of receipt for the petition that we filed. It shouldn't take more than a month, should it?

It normally takes one to two weeks to get a receipt notice. It has taken longer in some rare cases. However, look at your cancelled check from the filing fees. The BCIS will write your file number on it (eg. SRC, WSC, etc.) and then you can call or e-mail them for an update.
