  • perm residency finally approved.... took forever!

it took more than 5 painfully long months for me to hear from the INS after the adjustment of status interview.

for those of you who applied at newark, nj office, here is my timeline.

    6/1994~5/2003 maintained F1 status
7/2002 married my husband (us citizen)
    8/25/2002 applied for perm residency/EAD
    10 or 11/?/2002 fingerprinted
12/?/2002 re-fingerprinted because they screwed up the first time
    1/13/2003 received EAD
6/13/2003 had interview with my husband
    11/26/2003 received letter saying "approved"

now i need to go back there again on a wednesday... (that is, get there at least by 6 am, get in line in freeeeezing cold, wait several hours and get in.....and wait again...etc etc) to have the passport stamped.

oh, god i really hate that place.

Great news Miller. Wife and I too went through Newark. We started application in 11/02 and received Green card in mail Last month. We also received 6 letters all saying the same thing. "Welcone to the USA"
Back in August we had already received our stamp in passport, so we knew we just had to wait for the GC in the mail. 3 months later it did.

That was early! You only had one interview?

          Congratulations!
