  • illegally here since i was 7, can you help

I was brought here illegally at the age of 7. My mother finally got her green card and was able to file for me. I'm waiting on the nvc for a visa. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? I can't do anything w/ my life because of my legal status. Isn't there an application that I can file so I could work or study NOW. please give any advice you may have. thank you evm

You can check status of your petition online at www.immigration.gov and you will have an idea what is status of your petition. If you know your priority date, then you can check Processing time of your category even on this site www.ilw.com
        Good luck.

I'm sorry about your situation. I can just imagine how frustrating it will be. I have a neice who is in the same situation. When she turns 18, she won't be able to go to college or anything. She is the typical all-American kid. Her mom brought her here illegaly as a young child. She's gotten all of her education in American schools. Her English is better than her native language!! She is such a bright little girl and I so wish that there was somethign I could do to help. :-(

If you can show graduation and residency in Texas, California, New York or Utah, you may be eligible for institutional financial aid to attend college.
