Once you file those papers after that you are not required to appear before the Judge because it is a uncontested Divorce. After about two months, you are enquire at the Clerks office, if the Divorce has been signed by the Judge and it has been entered in the record. Then you can go to the Court and ask for a certified copy of the Divorce. Remember, these cases are filed in Supreme Courts of the State of New York in any County.
    Good luck.

In New York it takes about 3 - 4 months to get decision on uncontested divorce. Legal status or lack of SS# does not matter in matrimonial cases.
You can go to Supreme Court of your County and ask for a Set of Uncontested Divorce Papers. These are easy Forms, you can even fill it yourself. In the Court you can get the latest information about legal Fee to be paid in the Court. If you opt to fill your papers yourself, then keep in mind that certain papers will have to be notalized by you and your spouse. It is always better to have two different Notary Publics to attest signatures one for yours and the other for your spouse. There are many non-profit organizations like SAKHI etc. in New York City, which can help you in filling and filing these papers.
