  • I485 Interview Tommorow

    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if i could get some feedback. I married a USC and I started filing for adjustment of status in July 02. Everything has been rolling along quite smoothly. Tommorow however i have my interview for the "adjustment of status" here in Portland OR.

I have been hearing a multitude of varying reactions, warnings, and advice regarding this interview. In the letter there were no instructions on how to prepare/what to bring for the interview. I was hoping i could get some feedback on what to expect, what to take, how to prepare myself for this interview.

thanks a bunch for all your help,

if the marriage is legit then you have nothing to worry about...joint checking, life ins, lease etc.

Nothing really to worry about! I have yet to hear couples being separated or being asked "tricky" questions. It's human nature not to know the brand/size of your spouse's bra or underwear. If indeed both live together, then no question should be "difficult" to answer.
In our experience, we took everything, including income tax returns, mortgage statement, insurance, banking statements, life insurance, wedding pictures, affidavits, plane tickets, credit cards. Our interviewer didn't ask us a single question, except that we looked great on the wedding pictures and that she had no doubt that we were a real couple. It was a pleasant chat, lots of innocent conversation (like who did your cake, your family is happy, sibblings, etc) we just laughed at it and she signed my wife's passport and we were out of there in less than 15 minutes. Don't worry, you can't prepare, just have your "evidence" in order. Good luck!
