  • I-485 and CP?

    Hello,

I am going to file the I-485 and I am studing some notes on this web site. What does the "CP" mean? Does the "CP" means to filing in the Consular?

    Thank you for your help.

CP stands for Consular Processing.. meaning process in the consulate in your home country.

        What status you got?
I think, you can file I-485 without CP.If you need to call or go to INS,to ask the forms.INS could send forms to you, but it takes about 3 weeks. Or you can view & print that forms from computer. You need Acrobat Reader for this.Go to INS site(http://www.ins.usdoj.gov). After you file the forms you need to go to INS office in your state and stick your papers right beside the officers nose, cause, if you will send this forms it takes pretty long time or they could lose your documentation(what more worce). So,when you'll finish with that scary stuff, you need to be patient, because to get approval you need to wait pretty long time(6-18 month)
        Good luck!
