Affadavits of Support! INS's mistake

The interviewer told me to send him a copy of my employment paper and I would be fine. He said I didn't need to bother the other guy (our step-dad) and have him fill out the Affadavits of Support for us since we could use MY incomes (Which is not true 'cause I just got married this year and I did not have enough income for 3 yrs.)I did what he told me and he denied my I-485.

What should I do?? Find a lawyer and see if I can just re-submit the Affadavits of Support????
