They both are easy to sell on the net as your customer is "pre-qualified" and they both have high mark-up so it does not take a lot of sales to pay for any advertising cost or overhead... which means it is easier to turn a large profit.

With the information products (in this case your immigration manuals) you are the original seller. They are the easiest things to sell and generate quick profits. They have obscene markup potential and are easy to deliver (it can even be done electronically via email so there is no product or fulfillment cost). Software and audio/video information is similar. A CD-ROM or floppy disk costs less than a $1.00 to produce, but you can sell the software for hundreds of dollars. Audio and videotapes sell for up to $50 and can cost less than $3.00 to produce.

Customers are not paying for "value" of the material in the book/videotape (or whatever), they are paying for the value of the information you provide. Information products are also very easy to produce when compared with virtually anything else, and there are essentially no regulations that apply to them. If you were to produce a weight loss pill you would need to go through the drug administration, safety and labeling regulations. However, if you were to sell a product such as a weight loss manual or a book on how to build your own radio receiver, you wouldn't have to do anything but write and print it.

The last reason why an information product, like your immigration manuals/booklets, is the hottest item to sell is because our society is so "information hungry". This is especially true on the Internet where the entire medium is based on the concept of "information", hence the term "The Information Super Highway". It is easy to charge larger sums of money for knowledge that will make life easier. It can be as simple as how to make your lawyer listen to you appropriately or as complex as how to get an E visa without having any business at all. What makes the Internet perfect for this is that the people who use it are "information junkies", and they are usually searching the net for information... what a perfect client!

NOW IF YOU ARE SAYING " I don't know how to write" or "I don't want to write an immigration booklet/ manual".

      GET READY TO LEARN IT!

Take a moment and think about it. Don't make this mistake. Not only do they have to be able to afford it, but they must have a passion for the subject (a hobby or interest they love in immigration field), or a problem that they badly need solved.

And, of course, they need to have a credit card.

Your first product could very well be a booklet or manual about 20 pages in length. This is very easy to produce, and publishing a booklet can be done very inexpensively. You can publish special reports or booklets in small quantities like 10 or more. And, if you are going to publish a booklet like you would see in a bookstore, it can be done for under $900. A booklet can cost you as little as $1.00 a copy to produce if you invest wisely.

Offer it as a WORD or TXT document on diskette, or "downloadable" over the net. You can protect these documents using software that will only allow the document to be run on one computer so that people cannot distribute the information (or steal the information and re-sell it under their own name). You now have no cost to the product so the selling price is all profit and the fulfillment procedure is fully automated. Offer it in print format. You can have this done at any local copy shop, or if you plan to sell a lot of copies, have it printed and bound professionally at a printer. Don't try to produce an audiotape, videotape or CD-ROM until you have experience in print media.

When you are creating an information product, the TITLE of the book/special report is a critical key to your success. Many people assume that 90% of the work you will have to do is in the production of the product, but this is far from the truth. You will spend about 10% of your time creating the product and 90% promoting and selling it! Widen the scope of your booklet or manual. The title should not be "How I Got Rich Selling Immigration Manuals", but " How to Make a Fortune Through Immigration Knowledge Selling with Little or No Capital Investment". Test your titles - they are key to your success. Place classified ads in magazines (or online) targeted to what you are selling testing new titles to see which one pulls the best (use the title in your classified ad headline). This is critical. Make sure when you test titles that you use the exact same ad design and are just replacing the title of the booklet. You need a base-line to work from to see which truly pulls better.

Important Note: You can't just sell a product or service because it makes you money. You have to truly believe in it. If you don't, chances are that the lack of enthusiasm with show in your salesletters and webpages (and you will fail). I would never sell anything to my client base that I didn't personally use and that I wouldn't stand behind and defend 100%. There are lots of reasons for that attitude, but let me just say that this attitude will make you very wealthy over time.

PROTECT YOURSELF: PIRATES, SCAM ARTISTS, THIEVES. . .

Please be aware that information theft (especially on the Internet) is a problem that is growing in leaps and bounds. In fact people often don't realize that even when they "borrow" graphics or text from other web sites that they are actually stealing. There are various e-book software packages on the market with built in security features. However, you need to be careful! All e-book software is not created equal! You may want to consider if people are going to be able to "share" the password you give them. For example, you want to be able to limit the number of times a password can be used. Secondly, you may need to worry whether people will be able to copy & paste your information. Also, you might want to ask yourself if you have control of your product, even once it's in your customer's hands. You need to have a way to disable the product when, for instance, your customer requests a refund, or they do not make well on their payment. . .

Before buying e-book software you must also consider the formatting possibilities, taking into account their benefits and dangers. For example:

Text files are very, very insecure. Word Documents are not such a good way of distributing information products - they can take forever to download on a 28.8kbps modem. You can password protect a Word Document, but you cannot control whethere or not this password is shared. Limited security is provided when you use PDF files (Adobe Acrobat), but what about customers that don't already have an Adobe Acrobat viewer installed on their computer? They will be required to download it before they can access your product, which will be too much a hassle for most folks! Custom Built Files (Macromedia Director) are designated to your specifications, but unless you are a professional programmer yourself, you will need to hire someone to design and built it for you. Very expensive! And HTML Documents are extremely insecure - people can simply upload your files to the Internet to create their own site using your information!!!

The packaging for your publication will be the BIGGEST obstacle that you need to overcome before you will be able to safely sell your product on the Internet. YOU HAVE TO FIND A SOFTWARE THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO:

      1. Deactivate any e-book right from inside the software. this way when someone bounces a check or puts a "charge-back" on their credit card, you simply deactivate the user's registration code, so that when the e-book checks back with the server, it will become unavailable to the user. You can reactivate their registration number once they do make good on their payment!

      2. View any registration username and password and know exactly who they have been registered to.

      3. Create customizable usernames. The ones that fit your publication!

      4. Be sure that the user cannot "copy & paste" anything from your publication.

      5. Be sure that all HTML files, even directory structure, put into the e-book software will be instantly encrypted with a custom built algorithm that is virtually impossible to crack.

      6. Set the print feature to "on"/ "off"so that users of your e-book can / cannot print your information.

      7. MOST IMPORTANTLY, generate usernames and passswords specific to each individual e-book. When the customer starts their e-book for the first time, they will have to enter their username and password before they can do anything else. Once they've entered them, the e-book will go online and check with the server to make sure their code is valid. The server will match the username and password to the ones you have listed in your database. If their username ans password are valid and have not been previously registered, the e-book will unlock and mark the user's account as "active", giving your customer full access to view your publication. Once the customer has registered the e-book using their username and password the maximum number of times, it becomes impossible to share or copy because the registration system will not allow them to register it again. As it can be seen the e-book must have been designed to randomly check back with the servers to verify that the user's code is still valid. If the user does not happen to be connected online when the e-book attempts to verify the registration, the e-book will wait until an Internet connection IS available, time at which will take this opportunity to verify the information.

      Good Luck!

These "manuals" will have the actual instructions how to proceed with an immigration case, I suppose...isn't that so?

This whole thread sounds like a pre-planned scam to me. Appropriate and more frequently updated materials than could ever be contained in a "manual" on immigration to the United States are available for free on many web sites including those of BICS and many immigration lawyers' web sites. Further selling of "legal" information places the seller at risk. Such information would not be useful to a person with access to the internet where resources on immigration, including those at this site, are free.
