  • filing for divorce after receiving LPR

I received my LPR (permanent residence) 2 years ago. My wife abandoned me 1 year ago, so that would be 1 year after receiving my green card. Subsequently, I filed for divorce for abandonment. Also, she had a child whom I thought was mine shortly before receiving my LPR. It turns out that such child wasnt mine, based on DNA. For these reasons, I decided to file for divorce. Can I get in trouble with the INS for initiating divorce proceedings based on my wife's abandonment and infidelity

No, you cannot get into trouble, but you have to have been married for 2 years to get your permanent LPR. If you haven't gotten your permanent LPR yet and you have filed for divorce, then you will not get LPR and will be asked to leave the country.
