Lawyer or No Lawyer? I-130, I-360

    I did everything by myself...my wife even didnt know what kind of forms were required...and in other country...didnt even know abt this kind of discussion board really exists... went to BCIS website and downloaded forms...and did everything ... no help of lawyer...but if ur case is complicated...u should go for a lawyer... but i dont think it really has any kind of influence on priority...

    Is it true that if you have a lawyer when you petition with I-130 or anything similar you are given priority to people who petition without a lawyer?

    That's what my friend's attorney told her and her husband who are gathering documents right now. This guy claims that when applications are received they are sorted into two different piles - one of those represented by lawyers and one of people who are not represented. Then INS supposedly don't care too much about the un-represented people's pile. They give more attention and time priority to those with lawyers.

    I find this very hard to believe.

    I will be self-petitioning with I-360 without a lawyer and if this would really slow down my petition and have a negative influence, maybe I should just get a lawyer for a name and office or?
