  • How people see Americans

I am just putting the view points of the two sides on the basis of my interaction with the foreigners and Americans.

You American people have the following impressions:

    a. you are being hated by most of the rest of the world, including the European Whites.

    b. you think you give too much to the rest of the world, but the rest of the world does not recognize your great generosity.

    c. you are giving shelter to too many refugees, asylees.

    d. immigrants are cheating and looting you too much.

    e. Arabs and Moslems anywhere, in particular, are your number one enemies.

The well educated or half educated foreigners in rest of the world have the following impression :

    a. American companies all over the world are going and plundering, for example, people sell their milk and drink coca-cola in the third world countries.

    b. America pretends like giving to the world through the IMF and the World Bank but they are just the two long and big hands of America to exploit the rest of the world.

    c. America does not care the poor of the rest of the world. But it does not leave any oportunity to exploit the rest of the world.

    d. America deals with the rich only. Like the Middle Eastern countires full of oil. Poor countries of the world are not even in the radar screen of the America.

    e. All elites of the developing world have link and access to America and Americans.

    f. There are hardly any projects of poor people's concern in developing world with the help of America. The Japanese, the Norwegians, the Dutch, the Beljians, and other small countries of Europe are helping more to the the poor of the world than the wealthiest and the virtually self-proclaiming messiah of the world.

    j. America threatens the world and get things done what it wants to be done but does not care when its interests are fulfilled. Like the Kyoto Environmental protocal.

    k. America claims to be the leader of the world, wants to command respect but not earn respect.

    l. American diplomats/ representatives are too arrogant. They threaten the governments of poor countries when they do not get their interests fulfilled like fulfilled by a servant or slave.

    13. A small country in Africa or Asia or Europe hosts a lot more refugees/ asylum seekers than the wealthiest and one of the biggest of countries, the America. Still, it is America who talks too loud about human rights and democracy and civilization.

    14. America is too hypocritical about democracy and human rights. The human right situation of African Americans in America is worse than that of many minorities in undemocratic countries.

    15. America, where the presidency is decided by the court rather than by people's vote, where the majority vote winner loses election, where voting irregularities still exist like in a third world country claims to be the example of Democracy and human rights.

    16. Anything that is great, that is beautiful, that is good is for America. Anything that is inferior is to others. All genius people of the world are okay to live in America and they are part of the American tradition of immigration but all people with lower skill/ ability/ education should not live in America. They are illegal 'aliens'.

    17. American people are kept in dark about what America is doing to the rest of the world. People in American Government are doing this all.

Dear Americans, there are too many other things like this. But at this time, this much for you to read and understand.

I myself, am not American but have been living in America for some time. For sure, you do not need to worry about my stay in your country. I will leave this country when time comes.

To my opinion, both sides are partly true and partly incorrect. We all are human beings. We all inherit this earth. If we human kinds should prolong our stay on earth, we should work in common and we should learn to share and appreciate. America was not ever powerful and may not always be the most powerful. American people also want to be loved and respected, not hated. Rest of the world also wants to be treated fairly by America.

No body of us wants our home be encroached by others. In the same manner, Americans do not want to be encroached by immigrants. But if America is to live in the world human community, it should learn to live with the people of the world community.

There is too much jealousy against Americans. Jealousy is somewhat natural. Americans can can treat it by being nice to others rather than waging wars and making every effort to wage war. At this time, the world is watching and knows that America is trying every effort to wage war in Iraq. People in rest of the world are looking how long France and Russians sustain to stop it.

You have written your thoughts in a clear and careful way, but here is the problem. America is not a perfect place. America has social problems of its own.

America's elderly need help. For example, an American works, pays his bills, and prepares all of his life for the day when he retires. He pays for all events occurring in his lifetime, such as emergencies and misfortune, he usually buys a house, and he manages to save some money for retirement. When he becomes elderly and needs assisted care -such as in a nursing home- his own money pays for that bill too. Sometimes, it takes his entire lifetime's savings, and he will also sell his house and use that money too. Only when he uses up his own assets will he receive help from the government.

Now, we have legal immigrants who are qualified and skilled enough to find "better-paying" jobs to be able to pay for all events occurring in their lifetimes, such as emergencies and misfortune. They work, pay their bills, and prepare all their lives for the day when they retire. They usually buy a house and they manage to save some money for retirement.

Not much different than the average American.

We also have eleven million illegal aliens, and many are not qualified and skilled enough to find jobs above the poverty level. They are unable to pay for all events occurring in their lifetimes, such as emergencies and misfortune. They are not always able to pay their bills, and they cannot prepare all their lives for the day when they retire. They cannot afford to buy a house, much less save money for retirement.

The only way the impoverished can live their lives like "average Americans" and "qualified immigrants" is to be helped through money paid by taxpayers who are already overtaxed and can barely alot enough dollars to take better care of the American elderly.

This should at least partly answer your concept that Americans refuse to welcome poor people the world over. Would it not be a chaotic social dilemma for America to invite every poor, unskilled, uneducated person in the world -by the trillions- to live in America and add to the already overwhelming tax burdens of its own citizens? And, if America were to do that, which poor people from which country would be first in line
