  • Unemployment as a means tested public benefit

my wife is a conditional permanent resident. She was recently laid off and is considering applying for unemployment benefits. Like welfare, is this considered a means tested public benefit? Will this pose a problem when we apply to remove her conditional status? Would this be an unwise decision? thanx for the help

Unemployment is not welfare. Unemployment does not count as something negative toward sponsoring someone. Welfare is another story. That would be a problem.
