Document Fraud Waiver

I just met with an Immigration Lawyer who told me to ask for a Document Fraud Waiver. My spouse worked with out permission and I filled in forms saying not. We have our I-485 interview soon. I want to own up and fill out the Fraud Waiver. Will my spouse be deported and I be fined or worse?

I have never been in trouble with the law and I realize I made a big mistake.

well I read somewhere on this board that working without a work permit is not really somthing INS will punish you for specially if you are married to USC and filing for AOS. is that true ?????/

I think you messed up your chance. Working without authorization but married to USC might be forgiven but lying to the officer is something they won't take lightly. Work with your lawyer, your situation wasn't that complicated before but you made it worse.Let us know the outcome of your application.Goodluck

is there reason to believe that ins might catch your lie at any point?

If not, consult with another lawyer to make sure you don't screw yourself.

I don't know what INS knows. But I don't want to lie to them. I got into this mess because I didn't think straight. I have never been in trouble with the law. I want to try to keep my family together.
