If you have applied for adjustment at the District office, you will not currently be able to check your status on line. The nine digit number you have is either your A number or your EAD number. That number can be used if you (or your representative) check at the local office in person. Receipt numbers from the Service Centers are 13 digits and start with the three letter region code. (LIN, WAC, EAC, SSC, MSC) These can be checked online.
