In this critical time, when respect for basic Human Rights is fast disappearing, and democracy itself is in mortal danger, what will happen to the rights of immigrants if and when America goes authoritarian? The answer is that Trump's entire movement toward dictatorship was based on anti-immigrant racism, and that destroying the rights of immigrants - legal as well las "undocumented" was at the heart of Trump's presidency.,

Stirring up racial fear and animosity against nonwhite immigrants is at the heart of Trump's strategy today, as well as that of his MAGA supporters, as we can see from the right wing shouts of alarm over the so-called "border crisis" and "invasion" by nonwhite immigrants. Reverting back to and reviving America's long history of racial prejudice against immigrants is a crucial part of Trump's and his Republican supporters' plan to overthrow our democracy. This has ominous implications for the survival of immigrants' human rights in America, as well as for the freedoms that US citizens now also enjoy.
