For the millions of Americans who are concerned about the survival of voting rights, and the democracy which depends on these rights, the main focus has been on the white supremacist voting restriction laws that have been enacted, or are in the process of being enacted, in numerous Republican-dominated states, But there is an even bigger and more dangerous threat to voting rights, and democracy, brewing; namely the danger of election subversion, i.e. false vote-counting, by Republican supporters of Trump's 2020 "Stolen Election" Big Lie. Many of these supporters are now seeking office as Secretary of State of other roles crucial to the vote counting in many states.

Up to now, this issue, which essentially involves the end of American democracy as we know it, has been given little attention by immigrants and immigration advocates, since immigrants don't vote in US elections. But this is a huge mistake.

If Donald Trump or another GOP candidate who supports his views is allowed to occupy the White House based on a 2024 election in which tens of millions of votes by American citizens of color are thrown out and replaced by GOP handpicked white supremacist electors, we can be sure that there will be no more legal immigration in America - at least not for non-white immigrants.

This is why all of us who are concerned about the future of immigration in American should be very worried,, and pay very close attention to, what i happening on the election subversion front.

This danger is described in a recently published interview with Richard L. Hasen, a professor of law and political science at the University of California, Irvine. See:

Biden's voting right's plan isn't enough to save democracy
