In my previous comments, I have pointed out how the anti-immigrant racism which leading Republican politicians have been promoting by hyping a Trumped-up "Mexican Border Crisis", and which was official US policy under the Trump-Miller regime, is connected to attacks by these same Republican leaders on democracy and human rights for Americans.

These attacks include the recent fascist-style Texas voting restrictions and anti-abortion laws, as well as the anti-vaccine and anti-mask measures in Texas, Florida and other GOP-controlled states which are causing overflowing hospitals and morgues in those states - denying the right to life itself.

Let us not forget that, to date, more than 600,000 people in America have died from Covid-19, in large part due to deliberate denial and lies about this plague promoted by a Republican president and current GOP leader. This is 200 times the number of people who died in the September 11, 2001 terror attack!

But this is not all. These same Republican politicians, and many of their supporters, are also leading the way in denying the reality of Global Warming, which has led to catastrophic heat waves and wildfires in the West and hurricanes in the South and East, while threatening the right to continued existence of humanity itself.

A recent (2020) book by Syracuse University Political Science Professor Elizabeth F. Cohen (recently on leave to Princeton University), shows that US government anti-immigrant policies, originating in racist ideology, lead directly to threatening the rights of Americans and our democracy itself. A look at her resume shows that, without question, she qualifies as one of America's leading experts on immigration, and her views should accordingly be taken very seriously.
