Only three days after the most horrific attack against Jewish US citizens in all of US history, Donald Trump has announced that he bringing at least the spirit of the Nazi Nuremberg laws depriving the Jews of German citizenship, by planning an executive order abolishing birthright US citizenship for the US born children of all immigrant non-US citizens, not just those who are in the country without legal permission.

Any such order would be a blatant attempt to overthrow the US Constitution and the rule of law. by abolishing the guarantee of birthright citizenship for all US-born children in the 14th Amendment. Any such blatant attempt to substitute one man-rule for the highest law of the land as well as the will of Congress would definitely be grounds for impeachment based on egregious abuse of power.

Otherwise, it would signal not only the end of immigration in America, as the children of even legal immigrants might be both stateless and deportable, but also the end of our democracy and substitution of one-man rule instead.

Trump claims he can defy Constitution and end birthright citizenship

In 1898, the Supreme Court ruled in Wong Kim Ark that the 14th Amendment was enacted to protect, not only African-Americans who had been denied citizenship under the notorious Supreme Court 1857 Dred Scott decision, but all minorities, including the US born children of immigrants.

I will discuss this critically important but not widely talked about decision, which is the basis of America as we know it today, in a forthcoming comment.
