House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy Backs Legalization of Out of Status Immigrants
This is pretty important. McCarthy is the third ranking Republican in the House and extremely influential. How rank and file members react to next week's release of the GOP immigration principles document will tell a lot about what's going to happen this year on immigration reform and a united front from House GOP leaders is absolutely critical. If opponents of immigration reform are isolated and relatively muted, then you should invest in immigration reform stock. If the party appears to be in a loud public debate over the principles, that is going to be a big problem.Tags: None

The latter sentence makes no sense in light of the former. I guess he's one of those nonsensical "I'm for legalizing virtually every unlawfully present alien, but I oppose amnesty" types.
His immigration issue page still says:
"As a nation founded by immigrants, we should to continue embrace the individuals who wait in line and come to the United States legally to work hard and contribute to our society. However, we should not provide any amnesty that would benefit those who defy our laws and enter the United States illegally. In order to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in our country, we must enforce the laws that already exist. In order to do this, we must secure our border by using both physical as well as electronic barriers. We should also ensure that illegal immigrants are not receiving any of the benefits that are reserved for American Citizens."
