Senator Salazar (D-CO), one of the "Grand Bargainers" just introduced four amendments which were passed by unanimous consent.

They are the following:

Amendment 1163 from Senator Alexander (R-TN). This would create the Presidential Award for Business Leadership in Promoting American
Citizenship  "which shall be awarded to companies and other
organizations that make extraordinary efforts in assisting their
employees and members to learn English and increase their understanding
of American history and civics."

A mysterious Amendment 1167 from Senator Cantwell (D-WA), the text of which has yet to be released to the public.

Senator Cornyn's Amendment 1238 will double to $100,000,000 the amount of grants that will be made available to law enforcement agencies to handle illegal immigrants.

And, interestingly, Senator Grassley (R-IA) got Amendment 1166 approved which states that "the revocation of an alien's visa or other documentation is not subject to judicial review". According to Senator Salazar, certain last minute changes were made to make this less controversial. We'll have to see, of course.

Finally, Senator Salazar noted that Senator Allard's Amendment 1189 and Durbin's 1231 will be considered Tuesday morning. The Allard Amendment would cut out the green card supplemental numbers for Z visa holders and make those visa holders compete for the same pool of green cards made available to everyone else. This, of course, would mean green card backlogs of decades if it happened, so don't expect this one to go anywhere.

The Durbin Amendment would require labor certifications in all Y visa cases and not allow a waiver of recruitment even when the Department of Labor certifies that a shortage exists in the occupation.
